On New Years Eve, we were on route by car from Jaipur to another Rajasthani city, Jodhpur.

We stopped at midnight to ring in the New Year with a King Fisher--an Indian brew!

Since we were only a few kilometers outside of Jodhpur at midnight, we could see some fireworks being lit off in celebration of 2009!

Once in Jodhpur, we stayed in a lovely haveli hotel in the middle of the city. The cutest little lady ran her home as a hotel and we enjoyed her eclectic decorating! This is a view of Jodhpur from the rooftop of the haveli. Jodhpur is known as the "blue city" for everything being painted blue as a sign of welcoming. We refer to the color of blue as "Mandi blue" because it is also Mandi's favorite color, and we decided that they must have been welcoming her!

Another shot of colorful textiles being displayed for sale this time in the Jodhpur market. Nice artsy photograph, Jon!

The autorickshaws were a different brand (Kerala instead of Bajaj) in Rajasthan. That were shaped differently and many were decorated in a more regal, Maharaja-like way. This one was all decked out with flowers and decorations!

One of the main attractions of Jodhpur is the Mehrangarh Palace and Fort. It was built by Rao Jodha, the ruler of the Marwar region in 1459. This is a view of the city from inside the walls of the fort.

The impressive walls of Mehrangarh as seen from the city.
