Gouri, the housekeeper at the corporate apartment, has been teaching us how to cook delicious and healthy South Indian food. The wonderful thing about South Indian food is that all the ingredients are fresh and natural.

It is not pumped full of preservatives or anything to make it appear different. You just use a lot of fresh vegetables and spices to flavor everything! The only down-side is the amount of time and effort it takes to prepare a meal. It really can take you all day to cook! It is worth it though because it tastes so YUMMY!
A few of our favorite foods to make include:
Chapati
Rice
Sambhar
Rasam
Okra Subzi
Cabbage Subzi
Cauliflower Subzi
Green bean Subzi
Raita
A list of ingredients found in our kitchen to cook all this delicious food:
Wheat Flour
Rice
Sugar
Salt
Tamarind
Turmeric
Mango Powder
Fenugreek
Black Gram
Black Pepper
Jaggery
Red Chili
Mustard Seed
Cinnamon
Moong Dhal
Aesofetida

And many different types of vegetables!

Wow! cooking lessons. Lucky you!
You will have to cook for Missy when you get home. There is a new spice store off 82 that has 8 kinds of curry, maybe you can duplicate some of what you find there!
